Parent Testimonials

Parents report that community, culture and teachers set Tampa Bay International School apart from other schools. They appreciate the balance we strike between the traditional and the innovative. They recognize the aspects of our program that resemble traditional schools – our curricula, schedules and teacher-directed lessons. They also enjoy the innovative, non-traditional components of our program – our identity as a Spanish immersion school, our mixed age classes and our use of non-traditional lessons that incorporate movement and games.

“Our daughter learns to care for other people at TBIS. She is becoming a more empathetic person. The small groups have really helped her math and reading skills. We love that she is becoming bilingual!”

“It’s a community and not just a school – it’s home.”

“TBIS has been the perfect school for our son and our family.”

“We love everything about this school! The learning environment has been fantastic, with a focus on intense instruction followed by unstructured and project-based activities. Our two boys are learning at their pace and not held back by traditional grade levels.”

Bailey - 6th Grade

“We are a private Spanish immersion school with a student to teacher ratio of 7:1, allowing for lots of help from teachers. You are put into groups based on skill level, not grade, and we learn about social justice issues. We have classes like Ethics and World beliefs, where we learn about cultures around the world, and we have students and teachers from all over the world.

We have almost an hour of recess, and a garden with plants and even worms! We learn about artists such as Jacob Lawrence, and we have no uniforms.

Somos una escuela bilingue, con un maestro para cada siete estudiantes, para mucho ayuda para estudiantes.”

Have you ever wanted to be fluent in spanish? Have you ever been annoyed by how big your  classes are? Have you ever wanted a school that has interesting and dynamic classes?

Well, If you have, I recommend Tampa Bay International School. We have plays, camping trips, fun field trips to interesting museums. We also teach students by their skill level not by what grade they are in. We go from kindergarten through 8th grade and we are a small school with 30 kids. We also have small classes with 14 students in 5th through 8th grade, 8 students in kindergarten through 1st and 9 students in 2nd through 4th. We get 15 minutes of lunch and 30 minutes of recess. There is also recess in the morning from 8:30 to 9:00 and there is an optional 3rd recess if you're not picked up at 3:30. The recess after school goes from 3:30 to 4:00. What I most like about the school is that we don't have much homework, we read interesting books (such as Anne Frank's diary, The Dreamer, Percy Jackson). We also read books in Spanish. Right now I'm currently reading Captain Underpants In Spanish and in English I'm reading Anne Frank's Diary. This school has very good teachers and the teachers put in a lot of work to make the students a better person and to have fun.
